Gregory Taevs is the Commercial Consul assigned to the U.S. Consulate General in Mumbai, India where he brings a broad range of professional, geographical, linguistic and functional experience to bear assisting primarily small-and-medium sized American companies with their trade and investment objectives. In a career of more than 20 years, Gregory has served the commercial interests of the United States in seven overseas postings (Seoul, Mexico City, Lisbon, Istanbul, twice in Tokyo and now Mumbai), and two U.S. Export Assistance Centers. Gregory’s service was recognized with the Secretary’s Gold Medal Award, the Director General’s Award for Innovation, the Department of State’s Meritorious Honor Award, and ITA Bronze Medal Awards on three occasions.
Prior to joining the Commercial Service, Gregory advised U.S. exporters on the Export Administration Regulations and U.S. export control policy with the U.S. Department of Commerce’s, Bureau of Export Administration (now BIS). Gregory received a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from California State University; a Certificate in International Business from the American Graduate School of International Management (Thunderbird); a Bachelor of Science in Business from California State University; training in export licensing and regulations from the Office of Export Licensing, Washington, D.C.; and certification in customs law and procedure from the Foreign Trade Association, Los Angeles.
